Who we are
New York-based design and concept firm IDBD is equally adept at the varied disciplines of architecture, interior, furniture, and graphics. IDBD’s partners - Jae Park and Ryan Jo - each contribute a unique vision to the firm’s multifaceted design mission. The two principals first met at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), Master of Interior Architecture program, and later collaborated together in 2013 to design a house for Jae’s high school friend. At the time, Jae was a retail interior designer at sought after integrated architecture, design, planning, and consulting firm, Gensler (New York office) and Ryan was an interior designer at one of the most famous hospitality design and concept firm, AvroKO. This fun personal project would be a test of their teamwork abilities bringing together their distinct design backgrounds to bear on the process. It was a huge success and their project was published in Korea.
After successful years in their separate professional careers, they officially decided to join forces together in 2021 with the design of a new Korean restaurant in Jersey City called ‘ONDO’.
Jae and Ryan bring unique perspective to their designs as their backgrounds encompass extensive restaurant and retail space design, paying attention to the menu/items, space, and desired customer experience to create a catered, unparalleled design. This uniquely versatile approach produces design connectivity - environments in which every element of space relates to every other element in that space, and to the soul of the concept. The resulting design firm is exceptional in its ability to deliver integrated design services all rooted in a single, conceptual narrative.
